How do you use scrapbooking brads?

Blond&Tall asked:

I want to attach 6 pieces of paper (3 regular / 2 vellum).. Can I do this using scrapbooking brads? Do I need to hole point the paper first? How much paper can a brad handle?

I love brads. They are easy to use and you can get them in a variety of shapes and sizes to hold whatever you need. I have found that if you punch a hole first it will keep everything neat, and if you are doing more than one page it will keep your pages aligned. If you don’t have a hole punch that is small enough you can usually purchase one at Wal-mart or a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. It usually comes in a kit that has a little hammer and several different size hole punches. I think that it runs about $15 or $20 dollars, and once you have it you will use it a lot if you like using brads. If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area you can go to their web site at and print a 40% off coupon on any one item and this will save you some money if you have to buy one. You should be able to hold six sheets as long as you can pinch down the metal in the back after all of your paper is inserted. You can always get bigger brads if you don’t have enough room to close it. Good Luck and have fun!
